First as a motor pacer rider, then as a road racer and finally as an unparalleled endurance rider "Oppy" built the reputation of the bikes. His sporting achievements meant that the Malvern Star range was always led by its lightweight racing bikes and ensured that Malvern Star bikes were at the forefront of the Australian development of lightweight general purpose bikes.
