WORLD CHAMPION CHOOSES
MALVERN STAR

Mario Morettini, Olympic Pursuit Champion of Helsinki, 1952, and Amateur Sprint Champion of the World, 1953, has joined the Malvern Star team. Accustomed as we have been for many years to having the great names of cycling associated with Malvern Star, we feel that the outstanding record of this young Italian cyclist warrants special mention. Astride a Malvern Star he should continue on his brilliant way for many years to come.

Morettini was born in Milan, Italy, on the 2nd January, 1931, and commenced amateur cycling in 1949. Within 20 days of making his debut he performed the astounding feat of winning the Italian Amateur 3.000 Metres Pursuit Championship. Then, just to demonstrate his amazing natural ability and that his first victory was no fluke, he won the Gold Medal of Paris in the same year the first time this French classic had ever been won by a foreigner.

Space does not permit a detailed commentary on the many amazing cycling successes of this world beating Italian, but the following list of his most important victories provides some idea of his class and remarkable versatility. Like so many other great champions of the wheel, Mario Morettini believes that the slogan "You'd be better on it Malvern Star" applies to him as much as any one else.,
